I like different when it's done right (I'm a big B.O.B. fan), but Kid Cudi's shit is just too different. His shit reminds me of 808's and Heartbreak. Oh wait, I hated that album

im a HUGE Cudi fan. he has sum bad songs like Daps and Pounds but has sum amazing songs like Cleveland Is The Reason, The Prayer, Sky Might Fall, Embrace The Martian, Pillow Talk, Man On The Moonand of course Day N Nite

H20 I co-sign most of what you say and i agree that alot of his material does sound like 808's n heartbreak, hell his lead single of his official debut "Sky Might Fall" sounds like a leftover beat and track from that 808's. I know kanye produced it but it honestly sounds like something kanye had leftover.

To be real tho, i like his music still, mainly because of his voice(no homo). All the tracks ArikG mentioned are really good but his best IMO has to be the freestyle he did for Justin Timberlake's Lovestoned. I think he killed that shit, again IMO.

It's true, he is too different. Same thing with CH that guy is weird too. Kid Cudi doesn't really Rap too much, he sings and just stretches his bars and shit. It's cool but I don't know if I can listen to a whole album like that. His lyrics are alright too, haven't heard anything too amazing from him.

I disagree. Even though I'm from Cleveland, OH too, I feel that Cudi always had that style way before Kanye's mom past and he came out with 808's. Cudi's main goal is to rap from the heart, but keep it simple. Most conscience rappers put a lot of word play into their raps, but only the smart hip hop heads could only understand those songs. Cudi is trying to tap into those dumbed down minds and give them some real shit without making it too complicated.

As for his beats, he's always done the emo-rap. Its very simple, not too complicated, something that won't distract you from the lyrics.

I feel where everyone was coming at for the similarities and I think that Kanye using autotune throughout that whole album made you dislike that style, thus dislike Cudi. If I didn't know who Cudi was before 808's, I would of dislike some of his music too because of Kanye/Autotune.

Also, Cudi can go hard too. Listen to
Dat Kid From Cleveland, tracks 7: Rollin Remix, 15: 09 Freestyle, 20: Ask About Me (I think he does the less harmonic style flows on these tracks, except for the chorus on 20).

Disagree with you there. I don't dislike Kanye. I like Kanye but I hate 808's. And Cudi being a new artist I will give him a chance but the songs I've heard I just haven't liked.

at least he's better than Kid Capri, that guy is as annoying as shit.
